The following notifications relate to situations where the advertised route for overland expeditions had to be changed due to the political situation at the time. These, however, were not the only instances when expeditions had to be re-routed.

August 1976 – African politics as they affect EO (Rhodesia no longer safe to travel through.) |

May 1980 – Iran – in the event of the grave situation continuing (Transit of Iran not possible.) |

1984 – Routing Update for The Great Safari and Trans Africa via the Nile – Southern Sudan declared a restricted area and expeditions re-routed via the Central Africa Republic and Zaire necessary. – Nigeria closed its borders and expeditions re-routed via Chad necessary |
